I started getting into the meat of my painting degree this year and had the opportunity to take some really interesting classes and do a summer session abroad in Italy. I was feeling a little timid at first and worked mostly observationally but I really wanted to apply what I was learning to work about my stories and ended up talking about it with some professors who helped me start to get over my stage fright.
Major influences (or at least the artists I was looking at most) this year were Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Peter Paul Rubens, Eugene Delacroix, Takehiko Inoue, and Artemisia Gentileschi.
